Ketubah - Ketubah is the contract of marriage as per the Jewish wedding rules. According to Jewish law, they do not consider civil marriage. The ketubah is the only legal document to protect the rights of the Jewish bride in her marital life.
Kiddush cups - Kiddush is a word which is referred to the Jewish blessings that are to be recited before drinking the grape wine. The blessing is recited on Shabbat and the bride and the groom drink from this Kiddush cup. It is in ritual that both have to drink from a single cup of wine
During the processional of the Jewish wedding, candle sticks are carried by the groom's father or his friends. The groom never walks alone to the aisle. He is always escorted to the chuppah and the candle is carried in the belief to bring light and hope in the life of couple.
Mezuzah is a piece of parchment which has got Hebrew verses engraved into it.
Music is a main ingredient in a Jewish wedding. At the end of the reception, there are dance sessions and music is accompanied by it. The guests circle the bride's mother and they all dance together.
There is hora dance, circle dance, and other feet tapping dance which is celebrated and all take part in it equally.
Kippot - It is a skull cap worn by men in their waking hours. It is worn by those who practice Orthodox Judaism. It is generally white in color. It has to be worn during the wedding hours. Sometime guests also wear them, especially who stand under the chuppah.
Chuppah is a temporary cloth shelter under which the wedding is conducted. It is created to have a deeper symbolic meaning. It resembles the house of the groom in which the bride will come to spend the rest of her life. It is believed that the bride will protect the groom's house all her life.
Glass for breaking - Breaking the glass in a Jewish wedding is a very old practice. In this ritual, the falling of Jewish temples in Jerusalem is remembered and a feeling of sorrow is expressed towards it. At the end of the wedding ceremony, the groom has to break a glass with his foot.
It is also believed that the loud noise drives away the evil spirits and is good for the newlywed couple.
The glass breaking is very symbolic in Jewish wedding in many respects. Since glass is very fragile and once broken it cannot be repaired, even if repaired with great effort it will have the clear visible cracks.
